Thanks Peter, if I'm not mistaken are you the same Peter Moore who used to be on Feathered Flyer and bred Snowy crowned Robin chats?

My search for Bearded Barbets hasn't really given me much idea how much they are going for currently, I've found a couple of 2 year old adverts with pairs circa £450

I've joined several softbill groups on Facebook but it seems Barbets aren't commonly kept for whatever reason. I'll keep looking but so far no luck. In typical bird keeping fashion it has led me to looking at Pekin Robins, I've always fancied a planted aviary more as something to aesthetic than the rather purposeful structures that parrot aviary end up being. Now I'm sure there must be Pekin Robin keepers on here! Any words of advice.

I've only kept them indoors but they can be hardy if aclimatised to our climate so you need to be certain how they have been kept before releasing them into an outside Aviary @ this time of year especially as the climate in parts of their home range can be warmer than that in the UK

In reality I think I'm looking with next spring in mind now. Oh just realised you are referring to the Pekins! How much space did you give them? I live on a bit of an exposed hill so I'd give them an inside flight to retreat to in bad or cold weather. My daughter has the perfect aviary if only I could convince her that the Budgies in it need new homes.
