Bearded Barbets & Pekin Robins was created by Dom

I'm considering keeping Bearded Barbets, I've read Eric's breeding experiences on here but wondered if anyone had anything else to add like aviary size and construction bearing in mind their wood boring ability. I have kept quite a few parrot and parakeet species and currently have Yellow Thighed and Black headed Caiques and Spectacled Parrotlets.

Also if anyone is able to put me in contact with breeders would be great.

It's more a case that there are many visitors & not many who bother to join/ post . At one point last weekend I noticed there had been 125 visitors
As for Barbets I doubt that many keep them and those that do rarely visit the site

Hi and welcome, I have kept Barbets though not this particular species. No problem with them damaging wood framed aviary panels. Their wood boring was usually on softer wood, a large decaying birch log would be perfect.

Thanks Chris! So 2x2 soft wood frame should be fine then? I really fancy keeping birds that I can plant around as well, it is one of the drawbacks to parrots.

i have bred the Spot flanked barbets,
look in Breeders Articles. on this site.
i cant give any advice on Bearded barbets other than they can be sexed by the female has black dots on her sides the male does not.
