I have 2 pair of Mesias can I keep 1 pair in a flight 4mtr. x 1mtr. with a pair of Pagoda Starlings?
also will hearing but not seeing each other for breeding season be ok?
Would it be advisable to move them now as they are starting to fight at the double wired divider between the 2 : 8mtr.x 5mtr. flights that I have them in now?
What species should I seperate for winter, I have a mixed collection in my 2 flights.
Flight 1: I have Aymitis starling, Snowy Robin Chats,White Collard Uyhina, Silver eared Mesias.
flight 2 : white rump Shama, ( Separated ) western Blue birds,Silver eared Mesias ( which I'm going to move,) and some Native :skylarks, red starts ( separated ) and 2 pair of finches?
All advice will be appreciated. Just starting with foreign softbills and would like to start on the right foot, or have I over crowded my flights?

If they are like my pekin robins they do ok being separated from each other but need to have a visual barrier.they can hear each other wich makes the males start a singing competition sometimes.only had one pair of mesia so i cant comment on them but they are very closely related and similar in behaviour.good luck

Hello Jerry
You can separate the pairs either now or closer to spring, but time will tell if both pairs breed. In my experience so far, only the established breeding pair bred, but it could be different next year. Good luck

I have two pairs of Silver eared Mesia. They are in separate aviaries with no other species. They can see each other as they are opposite but there is a path in between them. They both breed well and often the cocks sing at the same time but I haven't seen any aggression..
