I use uni- komplet pellets as standard and the birds all look good on it ( GWJ titmus is cheapest but take about 3 weeks to deliever) . It is very convenient and they prefer it to the insect mixtures. I have found that dusting livefood tends to kill mealworms but I now use a coarse multivitamin powder which doesnt suffocate them I will check its name later..
I know some british softbill breeders feed greyhound dry pellets for their thrushes with good results. Much cheaper but I hate the smell so I don't use it.

I have just bought some dried soldier worms ( which are high in calcium) to see if any of my birds will take them ( so far none have)

My starlings weren't keen on uni komplet they left all the green ones, I feed Slaats mixed with a fruit based mix made by Beaphar, don't know the English it's called Vruchtenpate, they really like it I mix it about half the fruit mix to the Slaats, it does have bits of banana which they don't eat, I give them apple, pear, cucumber and grape chopped in the mix, I've tried other fruits but these are what they like, I used to give the fruit separate but they seem to take it better in the mix, this time of the year I only feed live food occasionally, this time of the year I put Breedmax in the food and also spirulina, when they are feeding live food to the young I put Nutribal on the mealworms I haven't found it kills them, but as I'm around during the day I can feed them in small amounts during the day, I also feed crickets when the hen has chicks

Orlux uni pate for insect eaters , Orlux uni pate for fruit eaters both from versele-laga
I mix both together
T20 pellets for larger softbills
Nutrabol sprinkled on fruit and dusted on insects
Chickweed and dandelion are also eaten mainly by my Turacos
Certain birds seem to have individual preferences but they all get to try
