I have reached a dead end I am afraid, I should be able to upgrade the old site and then transfer the data but I think the hack that caused our issues in the first placed has done some damage to the SQL db that will not fix with the standard tools, it just will not upgrade.
The only thing I can suggest is that if a few people are happy to volunteer, I can give them access to the old forum and if they want to copy the contents of threads and post them into a section on the new site called 'Archived Threads' we could turn them into articles for people to reference.
What do you all think?

Yes to an extent but a lot of rubbish would be posted too,
So if done it wants to be moderated before posted..
But its early days yet and i dare say good ideas as well as bad will be put forward:
